The Romans formed as a trio in 1981 with Juan Gomez (Human Hands, L.A.Free Music Society), Keith Mitchell (later with Mazzy Star) & Michael Uhlenkott (Monitor), joined later by Pat Delaney (Deadbeats, Bpeople) & Mikey Borens (45 Grave, Consumers).

Later members were Robert Lloyd & Pierre Smith (New Marines, El Vez.)
