After one of their World Series victories in the 1920s or the 1930s, the Giants or the Yankees gathered up in the clubhouse and sang “The Sidewalks of New York”.  It is a popular song about life in New York City during the 1890s. It was composed in 1894 and became an immediate and long-lasting hit.  It is often considered a theme for New York City.
