“Up The Neck”, Pretenders

This way: Up The Neck

I was sure this band were poseurs. This was (and still is to me) the largest insult one could level. An A&R mans wet dream of a band. The name, the look. really, I avoided them. Punk is not some leather jacket that you can buy at the fashion shop. But what slays me? Great songs slay me. And yes, there are great songs in spades here. And of course Chrissie Hynde is one of the great forces of nature. Not poseurs

The Pretenders are an English-American rock band formed in March 1978. The original band consisted of initiator and main songwriter Chrissie Hynde (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), James Honeyman-Scott (lead guitar, backing vocals, keyboards), Pete Farndon (bass guitar, backing vocals), and Martin Chambers (drums, backing vocals, percussion). Following the drug-related deaths of Honeyman-Scott and Farndon, the band experienced numerous subsequent personnel changes. Hynde has been the band's only consistent member.
